Riedel to be the Exclusive Glassware at the New Wine Education Center

Riedel(Edison, NJ – March, 2016) – Riedel, the 300 year-old family credited with revolutionizing glassware for the enjoyment of wine, announces an exclusive partnership with the San Francisco Wine School. Inaugurated in November 2015, the partnership names Riedel Crystal as the sole glassware provider to the school, which will use Riedel’s varietal specific stemware for all events, tastings and testing purposes. The relationship coincides with the inauguration of the school’s state-of-the-art Wine Education Center in South San Francisco, including Riedel’s support of a week-long series of events to celebrate the grand opening of the venue and a comparative wine tasting in Riedel glassware at the school led by Maximilian J Riedel, the company’s CEO and President, for wine professionals on April 7, 2016. The indefinite partnership gives Riedel the opportunity to share its groundbreaking wine glassware with the school’s students and influence and impact the next generation of wine ambassadors.

San Francisco Wine School, which strives to open the world of wine to serious students and wine enthusiasts everywhere while aiding in career development of wine professionals at all levels, has specifically selected Riedel Crystal as its exclusive glassware provider thanks to its continuous innovation in the industry and unwavering commitment to wine education through its expert materials and lectures, carefully conceived wine flights and in-depth guided blind tastings. Riedel will be providing the school with all glassware, decanters and carafes.

“Riedel’s support of the San Francisco Wine School formalizes an already shared commitment to furthering education and excellence in wine service, particularly among the next generation of wine professionals,” explains Anne Koziara, Vice President of On-premise Sales for Riedel Crystal of America. “The most important tool for both tasting and service is glassware, and Riedel’s varietal specific shapes are unparalleled instruments for better learning about wine’s specific properties, especially in an educational setting.” Through its own comparative glassware tastings, Riedel educates over 20,000 Americans annually, introducing thousands to the world of fine wine through its commitment to helping consumers “drink better wine.”

The San Francisco Wine School, founded in 2011 and now the largest wine school in the country, brings together under one roof the oenological topics and credential programs that best prepare students for success at all levels of the wine and hospitality professions. “On behalf of the San Francisco Wine School, I am excited to embark on this partnership with Riedel, and look forward to using its groundbreaking glassware to advance the education of America’s future wine professionals,” explains Master Sommelier David Glancy, founder and CEO of SFWS.
