Arts in April® Napa Valley kicks-off in Yountville April 2

(March 7, 2016) – Yountville, the “Culinary Capital” of the Napa Valley, will host its annual food arts, wine and music festival “Taste of Yountville” on April 2.  This popular event jump-starts Arts in April® Napa Valley – a month-long celebration of art and culture sponsored by Arts Council Napa Valley and Visit Napa Valley.

April 16, visitors can experience Yountville’s thriving art scene during “Art, Sip and Stroll.” It’s a unique opportunity to view and purchase fine art of all mediums, meet the artists, and savor award-winning wines in the culinary heart of Napa Valley.

Arts in April® Napa Valley presents a time for visitors and art aficionados to appreciate and purchase works of all genres, disciplines and periods at various locations throughout Yountville and the entire Napa Valley. Long considered an artist destination, the Napa Valley landscape is highlighted in April by a canvas of wild mustard flowers in full bloom. Photographers and outdoor painters migrate to the valley each year to be inspired by its panoramic muse.

Yountville TastePartake in sampling world-class food and acclaimed local wines at “Taste of Yountville” on April 2, 2016. There will also be chef demos, garden tours, goods offered by Yountville shops and boutiques, and a wide variety of music and entertainment: Chi McClean, Lisa Marie Johnston, Mike Gibbons, Marty O’Reilly and Benji Marx.

Passbook holders taste at every participating restaurant, winery and tasting room along Yountville’s main street, gain access to the Grand Tasting Pavilion and are presented with a souvenir tasting glass and a Passport for an afternoon drawing. There will be limited non-alcoholic beverages available.

“Napa Valley Collects,” the kick-off to Arts in April of the Napa Valley, is a distinctive selection of works from private collections throughout the valley featuring impressive works from world-renowned artists such Artists include Dave Eggers, Don Farnsworth, Francisco de Goya, Joan Miro, and Manuel Neri. Cost for the opening reception is $10 for museum members and $20 for non-members. Napa Valley wines and abundant refreshments will be served. Purchase tickets at CellarPass.

In conjunction with this event, visitors can take part in the “Napa Valley Collects Tour with the Curator” happening on April 13, 20, and 27 at 2 p.m. This experience allows visitors to tour the Napa Valley collects exhibition led by Meagan Doud, museum curator. Learn more about each artist in the showcase and what it means to be a collector. Price: $7 for adults, $3.50 for seniors and $2.50 for youth; Museum members can take this tour for free.

April 10 | Niyaz
Where: Lincoln Theater, 100 California Drive, Yountville

Electronic world fusion group Niyaz has inspired the world with their touching love songs, glorious melodies and irresistible rhythms. It’s a celebration of music, love, and the poetry that inspired it. Founded in Los Angeles in 2004 by Iranian refugees Azam Ali and Loga Ramin Torkian, along with American producer/engineer Carmen Rizzo, Niyaz’s music is described as “mystical music with a modern edge. Part of the proceeds from the concert will benefit Moms Against Poverty.

VIP Ticket is $95; includes admission, drinks during intermission and wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres at the after party where you can meet the artists.

April 14, 2016 | ART@bardessono | Artist Reception

Art aficionados will have an opportunity to connect with regional and Bay Area artists for a reception at Lucy Restaurant and Bar on April 14 for Art@bardessono. The artist works are made from upcycled and repurposed materials that will be on display at Bardessono from April through June 2016. Artists include: Gordon Huether, Tor Archer, Albert Dicruttalo, Clint Imboden, Barbara Kronlins, Gugger Petter, Eric Powell and Tim Yankosky.

Light bites will be provided by from Chef Nate Lindsay of Lucy Restaurant & Bar and wine tastings by Ma(i)sonry Napa Valley.

April 16, 2016 | 4th Annual Art, Sip & Stroll

Please join the Yountville Chamber of Commerce to “Taste Life Here” during the fourth annual Art Festival in Yountville – Art, Sip and Stroll. End-to-end, Washington Street will be bursting with mixed media from over 40 talented local and regional artists.

For $20, partakers will receive a wrist band and tasting glass that will grant them access to taste at more than 12 wine stops along the route. All proceeds from wrist band sales benefit Yountville Arts, and for 2016, will jump start the fundraising for the “Beyond a Mural” Project to beautify the Highway 29 underpass at California Drive in Yountville.

Art, Sip and Stroll wrist bands are now being offered by pre-sale. April 16 | V Marketplace | North Bay Gallery, Hogan of Napa Valley and Gallery 1870
Where: V Marketplace, 6525 Washington St., Yountville
Time: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (in conjunction with Art, Sip & Stroll)

V Marketplace will be featuring several artists at various galleries throughout its center on April 16 to coincide with Art, Sip & Stroll. Dillon Vineyards and Trombetta Wines will also be offering wine tastings during the event at V Marketplace. The wineries and artists will be both outside on the front lawn and inside the center. Here is information on the artists:

North Bay Gallery will be showcasing renowned artist Guy Buffet. His sublime sense of the burlesque is unparalleled and infections, as seen in his iconic paintings of waiters and chefs. Guy will be at North Bay Gallery during the Art, Sip & Stroll event to sign any of his art that collectors bring in. 

Also featured at North Bay Gallery during Art, Sip & Stroll will be Marta Collins, a professional impressionistic plein air painter.

Betty Jo March will be featured courtesy of Hogan of Napa Valley. She has been a watercolor painter for more than 40 years. Betty Jo records the nuances of every season in an attempt to show the world the beauty she sees in the valley every day.

Artist Sue Averell will be featured at Gallery 1870. Her medium of choice is acrylics and her paintings are displayed and collected world-wide. Color is what motivates Sue to explore her subjects and it is the word she always hears when someone views her work.

Jessup Cellars will be featuring a month-long exhibition by producer, music journalist and author Heather Jacks called Buskloose: Taking it to the Streets. The exhibit, with photographs shot by Mike Gibbons and Bejamin Benoit a historical review of busking in the Bay Area.
