Up to 25 micro-lots of unique, hand-crafted Napa Valley wine futures up for sale this November

PNV auction 20163/1/2016 – St. Helena, CA – The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) announced today it is partnering with renowned auction house Christie’s to bring some of Napa Valley’s rarest and most collectable wines to the Hong Kong market in November 2016. All of the wines featured will be produced under the NVV’s Premiere Napa Valley label, an ultra-boutique portfolio of unique wines crafted by vintner members of the nonprofit trade association.

“We’re delighted to present these ultimate collector wines to our audience of discerning buyers,” said David Elswood, international head of wine for Christie’s. “Our bidders are quite familiar with the best wines of the Old World. The Premiere Napa Valley brand is an ideal way for us to present to them some of the finest wines of the New World.”

The Hong Kong sale will feature up to 25 lots of 60 to 120 bottles each of Premiere Napa Valley wines. The NVV is organizing it in addition to its annual Premiere Napa Valley barrel tasting and auction, which takes place in Napa Valley each February.

“For two decades, our vintner members have crafted and we have offered our wine region’s most coveted selections at our annual event in Napa Valley,” said Linda Reiff, NVV president and CEO. “Premiere Napa Valley Hong Kong is a way for us to build awareness of the quality and desirability of Napa Valley wines in the world’s top wine auction market, which is also the gateway to much of Asia. This new venture will help further Napa Valley’s reputation as a leading global wine region.”

The NVV is planning events in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing to preview the wines to be sold to potential buyers in the months leading up to the Christie’s sale. Participating wineries and the exact date of the sale will be published soon.

This announcement comes on the heels of the 20th anniversary of Premiere Napa Valley, which took place on February 20 in Napa Valley. That event featured 226 unique lots of wine and included the NVV’s first-ever E-Premiere Napa Valley Online Auction of 26 of the total lots sold. Overall, the event raised $5 million, the third highest fundraising total in its history. Proceeds from Premiere Napa Valley, including the new Hong Kong sale, support the NVV’s mission to promote, protect and enhance the Napa Valley wine region.

Premiere Napa Valley 2017 is scheduled for February 25 in Napa Valley. To learn more about Premiere Napa Valley wines, visit premierenapawines.com.
