Women for Winesense 25Napa, California – February 26, 2016: Women for WineSense (WWS), the premier wine education and networking organization for wine aficionados and industry professionals, announces the election of a new Board of Directors for the Napa | Sonoma Chapter.

Sandra Hess, President of the Board, “I am honored to work with such a dynamic group of individuals as we have formed a new board to strengthen the communities that Women for WineSense has built in Napa and Sonoma.  We are developing a series of exciting new networking events and educational round tables in 2016.  As we celebrate our 25th anniversary of the founding chapter, we look forward to welcoming new members and also recognizing those who have supported Women for WineSense throughout the years.”

The additional members of the board include Jena Domingue, Vice President; Keith Wesselschmidt, Treasurer; Jennifer Douglas Phillips, Secretary; Dina L. Northcutt, Programs Director; Lisa Bishop Forbes, Roundtables Director; Thea Dwelle, Marketing Director; and Kristina King, Membership Director. Every member of the board has considerable wine industry experience as well as a passion for the history, accomplishments, and ongoing mission of WWS.

Michaela Rodeno, founding member, briefly described the significant accomplishments of WWS.

“We started Women for WineSense 25 years ago to save wine from what some would call surging neo-prohibitionists. By getting the good word out about wine and its cultural and health benefits, and with help from 60 Minutes, we won that battle long ago. Since then, we’ve been enjoying one another’s company and shared love of wine. WWS has become a thriving, national organization of women and men who enjoy learning, networking, helping one another, and above all, celebrating and supporting the women who will be the next stars in the wine business.”

The WWS Napa | Sonoma Chapter Board of Directors are eager to roll out a year filled with wine events that continue to champion the original mission of the founding members. The year ahead will include Roundtables for wine industry professionals who will gather regularly to share their experiences and learn and grow together. In addition to these Roundtables, there will be many networking and educational opportunities for members, beginning with a Meet and Greet with the new Board of Directors followed by a cheese class on led by Janet Fletcher on March 3rd.
