Byington Vineyard & Winery Wins Gold at 2016 SF Chronicle Competition; Announces Expanded Wedding & Event Venue Capacity

ByingtonJanuary 21, 2016, Los Gatos, CA — Byington Vineyard and Winery has just been awarded medals from the internationally-renowned San Francisco Chronicle Competition, including Gold for their flagship wine, the 2013 Estate Pinot Noir, Santa Cruz Mountains ($45), and Silver for the 2013 Barbera from the Shenandoah Valley ($39).

Other Byington wines to achieve critical acclaim include the 2013 Liage, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier from Monterey County ($24), awarded a Gold medal and 93 points by tastings.com, the 2014 Viognier from the Honeychurch Vineyard in El Dorado ($28), awarded Gold and 92 points from Tastings.com and the 2013 Block 4 Estate Pinot Noir, awarded Gold and 91 points from both the Wine Enthusiast and FBworld.com.

The 2013 Wrights Station Chardonnay, the 2013 Sauvignon Blanc from Ventana Vineyard and the 2013 Viognier from Honey Church Vineyard in the Shenandoah Valley, all received Silver medals from the American Wine Society. The 2007 Alliage, the winery’s signature red Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, scored Silver at the prestigious Sunset wine competition in 2015.

The award-winning 2013 Wrights Station Chardonnay, 2013 Estate Pinot Noir and 2013 Barbera, are currently available at the Whole Foods in Capitola.

Commenting on the recent results, Winemaker Andrew Brenkwitz said, “We are working tirelessly on crafting exclusive, high quality wines that will receive raves and gold medals throughout. My goal in 2016 is to work very hard to create natural wines that score well over 90 points and provide a unique experience to Byington wine connoisseurs.”

INCREASED EVENT CAPACITY

Event facilities have been enhanced to accommodate larger parties in 2016. The idyllic Wedding Hill venue is now capable of seating up to 220 wedding guests (up from 100), while the entire facility can now be configured to host events for up to 400 people.
