Wine GrenadeWinemakers producing heavy reds may soon have another tool to get their wines to market faster, without sacrificing quality.

New Zealandbased startup Wine Grenade are in the process of trialling their revolutionary product – a lowcost alternative to existing microoxygenation systems, that requires no installation or electricity, and very little monitoring.

“We’re answering a pretty common question for winemakers – how to get great wine to market quickly and cost effectively,” says Wine Grenade CEO Hamish Elmslie.

The team has experienced initial success testing their product with global wine brand, Sacred Hill Wines.

“The results from independent analysis and blind taste testing were very encouraging. Our product, tested in Merlot and Pinot Noir wines, had the desired outcome – the same or better quality wine, produced at a significantly lower cost, and in a fraction of the time compared to traditional methods.”

Following on from their domestic success, attention now shifts to the US market, with trials set to begin with a Californian winery.

“It’s important for us to validate our product with the people that use it. The US market is an amazing opportunity to further test our product and to substantiate our claims. The more wineries we can get to help with this process, the better it will be for the industry.

“If the US trials are as successful as they were in New Zealand, we’ll be even more confident in our product’s ability to help winemakers produce great reds in a shorter timeframe, and at a
lower cost.”

Representatives from Wine Grenade will be at this year’s Unified Wine & Grape Symposium, on from January 26th 28th at the Sacramento Convention Center.

Wine Grenade is a New Zealand based wine technology company that produces a lowcost alternative to traditional microoxygenation systems, that will allow winemakers to mature wine at a lower cost, and in a shorter timeframe. For more information, please visit www.winegrenade.com
