Napa Valley Mira Winery’s Collectors Series

Unveils Luxury Collectors Series With Release of 2012 Hyde Vineyard Cabernet Franc

Mira WineryCharleston, S.C. (October 15, 2015) – Mira Winery announces the unveiling of its luxury Collectors Series by releasing its Cabernet Franc from acclaimed Hyde Vineyard.  Mira’s Collectors Series wines are 100% varietal, hand-crafted and produced from the best small blocks from internationally renowned Napa Valley growers Hyde and Schweizer Vineyards.  These limited production world class wines, representing the soul of Mira Winery, require longer aging in 100% French Oak Barrels, as well as in bottle, to allow their delicate nuances to fully express themselves. Intended for those who appreciate the impact that aging has on fine terroir, enjoy the Collectors Series upon release or allow the wines to age further in your cellar.

“Our Cabernet Franc is the first in a series of wines that are truly reflective of Napa Valley and  defines who we are as a winery,” Mira winemaker Gustavo A. Gonzalez explains.  Having worked with the elite growers of Schweizer and Hyde Vineyards for years, the respect these growers have for Gonzalez and the wines he produces has provided him access to the best fruit portfolio in the Valley.

The Collectors series Cabernet Franc has a 150 case production and can be purchased at https://store.miranapa.com/2012-mira-cabernet-franc-p190.aspx ($85/bottle). Purchases of the first vintage release will receive priority on subsequent vintage releases.

With Schweizer’s location in the heart of the famous Stags Leap District, the smallest sub-appellation in the Napa Valley and noted for its distinctive soil composition and ability to produce top tier Cabernet Sauvignon, Mira’s Schweizer Cabernet is sure to become a sought-after classic.  With the Schweizer family’s history of ownership of this small 40-acre vineyard and the land’s 100+ history of grape growing, Schweizer Vineyard truly is the most famous vineyard you’ve never heard of, until now.  Though selling its grapes to a small number of well-known producers for years, Mira’s 2012 Schweizer Cabernet Sauvignon marks the first time the Schweizer family has permitted the designation of its vineyard on a producer’s label.

Rounding out the Collectors Series with wines from Hyde Vineyard in the Carneros region makes for a portfolio for true wine collectors and represents a series of wines sure to be envied by the most discerning oenophile.  With Hyde’s acclaim as one of the top California vineyards, Mira Winery is honored to make more different wine varietals from Hyde fruit than any other producer.

“Gustavo’s global winemaking experience brings a unique perspective and approach to Napa Valley that is reflected in the style and quality of our wines,” says Mira President Jim “Bear” Dyke, Jr. “We are renowned for our ocean aging experiment with 8 cases of our Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon but it is the Collectors Series that truly defines who we are as a winery.”

Mira’s Collectors Series includes the following wines:

  • Schweizer Cabernet Sauvignon (150 cases produced; $990/6-pack)
  • 2012 Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon (644 cases produced; $90/bottle)
  • 2012 Cabernet Franc (150 cases produced; $85/bottle)
  • 2012 Petit Verdot (50 cases produced; $85/bottle)
  • 2013 Hyde Pinot Noir (250 cases produced; $75/bottle)
  • 2012 Hyde Syrah (584 cases produced; $45/bottle)
  • 2012 Hyde Chardonnay (275 cases produced; $65/bottle)

With the 2012 Hyde Chardonnay released earlier this year and this release of the 2012 Cabernet Franc, the Collectors Series wines are going fast and may be sold out prior to official release.

Prior to release, Collectors Series wines are available on a priority basis to wine club members at www.miranapa.com.
