As part of the continuing effort to promote and advance the growing Texas wine industry, Attorney and Winery-Vineyard Industry Executive, Robert H. Fritz of Solaro Estate has returned from Solaro’s 2015 private, month long delegation to Italy, France and Germany.
This year’s meetings included vineyard and winery personnel and industry professionals in Montepulciano Italy and Livorno Tuscany Italy, Piacenza Emilia Romagna Italy, Franciacorta Lombardia Italy, Chamonix Rhone Alps France and Volkach Franconia Germany, with an emphasis on varietals, vineyard management practices, wine making techniques. The European relationship project began in 2008 in Italy and expanding to Germany and France in 2014. The 2015 meetings with Wine Industry Professionals in all 3 countries have reached a new level with travel and information now being shared throughout the entire year.
This year’s primary focus is Emilia, the wine region between Piemonte and Tuscany. This region has been known for generations by the wine community as producing some of the finest vintages in the world. However, because the wine making practices are largely internally controlled to preserve quality, these wines have been difficult to obtain outside the European theatre. Similarities of terroir, varietals and open minded people make the region a perfect one for Texans to partner with.
As part of this wine relationship project, Italian Sun Radio conducted a featured interview with Robert H. Fritz of The Solaro Group based in Austin, Texas. The interview took place on national wine day of Italy, as the most important day for the Italian wine industry to reach the public. The interview which included elements of the growing Texas wine industry and the relationship project was broadcast live throughout Italy in English and Italian.
