September 15, 2015, Los Gatos, CA — Byington Vineyard and Winery, under new ownership since 2013, is presently open Thursday through Sunday, from 11am til 5pm, offering a variety of wine tasting and touring experiences. Visitors can enjoy a complimentary vineyard tour, conducted via open-air bus, or take advantage of hiking trails along the forest’s edge, both featuring magnificent valley views. Fall is the perfect time to be outdoors in the Santa Cruz Mountains, surrounded by the colorful beauty of mountain vineyards, combined with wine tasting at perhaps one of Silicon Valley’s most spectacularly set winery destinations.
Known for its expansive underground caves 40 feet beneath the surface, Byington offers an exclusive 45-minute tour and tasting of the premises, highlighting the inner workings of the winery. These tours are conducted every weekend. Also offered are barrel tastings and library wine tastings every Saturday and Sunday, and by appointment in advance, in the spectacular barrel-lined caves. On Sunday afternoons, the public is invited to enjoy live music concerts, featuring local musicians, from 2 – 4 pm. Bring a picnic, or choose from a selection of snacks available for purchase, and enjoy a bottle of wine overlooking the mountain vineyards.
The current wine lineup available for tasting and purchase (rotation of wines changes weekly) includes: Sparkling Rosé of Pinot Noir, 2014 Pinot Noir Rosé, 2014 Sauvignon Blanc, 2013 Liage (blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier), 2014 Viognier, 2014 Blanc (a steel tank-aged Chardonnay), 2013 Wrights Station Chardonnay, 2013 Estate Pinot Noir, 2013 Block 4 Estate Pinot Noir and 2007 Alliage (Bordeaux blend). A dessert wine, called “Euphoria,” made from fortified late harvest Pinot, is also available, along with many other selections.
