Quady Winery, celebrating 40 years of crafting sweet wines in the San Joaquin Valley, is proud to announce promotions within its winemaking team. Michael Blaylock, promoted to Director of Winemaking, began his tenure at the helm of winemaking operations in 1984. Darin Peterson, promoted to Winemaker, started working at Quady Winery in 2005. Quady Winery founder, Andrew Quady, launched his wine business in 1975 with sixteen hundred cases of Zinfandel port. Quady Winery is an industry leader in craft apéritif and sweet wines; annual case production is eighty thousand cases of Moscato, dessert, vermouth, port and sherry style wines.
Michael Blaylock is responsible for three decades of gold medal wines at Quady Winery and has a reputation for making wines of the highest quality. Directing the various aspects of winemaking operations he is an important part of the Quady management team. An advocate for the San Joaquin Valley agricultural community, Michael is on the Board of Directors for both the California Wine Institute and the Family Winemakers of California. Locally he is a member of Vino Fino, one of the oldest winetasting clubs in the San Joaquin Valley.
Winemaker Darin Peterson is a graduate of the California State University Fresno Enology Program. He started at Quady Winery as Assistant Winemaker in 2005. Darin is on the Board of Directors of the Madera Vintners Association (MVA) and is serving his second term as MVA Vice-President.
The teamwork and spirit found at Quady Winery is exemplified by the pride that everyone takes in being a part of such a unique operation. Tenures at Quady Winery are impressive: General Manager Cheryl Russell began in 1983, Production Manager Dan Mejia began in 1985, and Cellar Supervisor Mauro Molina began in 1988. David Glover, newly promoted to Information Technology and Administration Manager, began in 2002. Quady Winery is family owned and operated by Andrew and Laurel Quady and their two children, Allison and Herb Quady.
