New take on wine-making provides an interactive experience for consumers and collectors

Reuling Vineyard(August 25, 2015; Forestville, California) Reuling Vineyard, a Sonoma Coast-based producer of ultra-premium wines, announced today the release of its highly-anticipated 2013 Reuling Vineyard Pinot Noir (SRP $70) and a new Clonal Collection boxed set (SRP $420).

For this third vintage of its eponymous Pinot Noir, Reuling Vineyard created a first-ever Clonal Collection, which includes three bottles of the traditional Pinot Noir blend as well as one bottle of each of Reuling Vineyard’s three individual clones so that wine buyers can taste the beauty and distinctive nature of the three types of Pinot Noir grapes grown on the vineyard’s Sonoma Coast estate, including Calera and two different “suitcase” clones from the Vosne-Romanée region of Burgundy.

With the 6-bottle Clonal Collection, wine buyers will now have a completely new and unique perspective on the interactive process of making wine. Jackie Reuling, one of the owners of Reuling Vineyard alongside her husband Tim, describes the Clonal Collection as a “unique spin on the art of making wine. One of my favorite parts of the winemaking process is sitting down with our winemaker, Matt Taylor, tasting the features of each clone, and discussing how to create an ideal blend for each vintage. By bottling the blend and the individual clones, we have re-created this same experience for our customers, so that wine buyers will be able to develop a deeper connection with the land and a greater understanding of what makes Reuling Vineyard wines so special.”

Reuling Vineyard winemaker Matt Taylor, a Wine Enthusiast Top 40 under 40 Tastemaker, notes that “each of the Reuling Vineyard clones imbue the Pinot Noir with distinctive characteristics: the Reuling Vineyard R clone is known for its delicacy, plush mouthfeel, and red fruits; the Reuling Vineyard L clone has a brooding, structural and darker side, and significantly more whole cluster in the blend; and the Reuling Vineyard Calera clone adds exotic aromas and spice, velvety texture, and pronounced acid.”

The 2013 Reuling Vineyard Pinot Noir and Clonal Collection is available to mailing list members and will then ship to customers and select retail and restaurant accounts beginning in October. Mailing list sign-ups can be accessed at www.reulingvineyard.com.

To celebrate the new Clonal Collection, Reuling Vineyard will also be hosting a wine tasting party in New York City on September 16th at The Lofts @ Prince, 177 Prince Street, Suite 300, New York City. Space is limited and RSVPs will be required. For more information, please visit: http://reulingvineyardnewyork2015.splashthat.com

About Reuling Vineyard:

Planted in 2000, Reuling Vineyard is comprised of 12.2 acres of Pinot Noir (three clones comprise the blend—Calera, and two different “suitcase” clones from the Vosne-Romanée region of Burgundy). There are also 2.2 acres of Chardonnay, produced with a clone from the Montrachet vineyard in Burgundy that Robert Parker of The Wine Advocate has dubbed “The Reuling Clone.” For over a decade, the vineyard was an acclaimed source for producers including Aubert Wines and Peter Michael Winery. In 2013, the Reuling family launched its own label under the direction of Matt Taylor, the former winemaker and vineyard manager at Araujo in Napa.
