Napa Valley farmworkers and vineyards to benefit

Napa Valley GrapegrowersCARNEROS, Calif. (August 24, 2015) – Napa Valley Grapegrowers will continue their work to preserve Napa Valley’s Vineyards and enrich the lives of farmworkers, thanks to over $827,000 net raised at this year’s 8th Annual Harvest STOMP.  The event was held Saturday, August 22, at V. Sattui Winery’s historic Henry Ranch in Carneros, where grapegrowers, wine lovers, and locals gathered to celebrate the Napa Valley grape harvest.

STOMP is Napa Valley’s most authentic harvest party, with all 550 guests decked out in “cowboy” attire to enjoy the sold-out event under the stars.  Dario Sattui and Tom Davies, Chairs of this year’s event, transformed the historic Henry Ranch by accentuating its authentic western atmosphere and turning the ranch into an old-west “STOMP Town” that wowed attendees.  Design elements included transforming one of the antique barns into a “saloon” with a long wine bar, saloon girls, and Blackjack tables.  Guests kicked up their heels on the dance floor to live music by the Alabama Bow Ties and the evening’s headliner, award winning Nashville performing artist Sierra Hull.  Guests were seated at long tables under the stars to enjoy family-style cuisine, featuring Beef Bourguignon made by Smoke Catering using local beef raised by youth in agriculture.

“We wanted to show our support of the important mission of preserving and protecting our vineyards, and thank farmworkers in the Napa Valley for the great job they do in growing our world-class wines,” says Tom Davies, President and Co-Owner of V. Sattui Winery.  “We also wanted to show off our Henry Ranch, originally pioneered by the Henry family in 1855, who built a stock farm and small dairy on the property.  Most of their old barns and buildings still exist and give a glimpse of an era long ago.  We acquired the property from Herb Henry in 1993 and now have over 100 acres of vineyards producing some of our finest wines.”

A highlight of the evening was the $557,000 raised in the “Fund-a-Need” lot, which raises money for the Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation.  To date, the Foundation has educated over 7,500 vineyard workers and their families through workshops, training programs, English classes and the successful Día de la Familia event.

“We are so proud to have hosted this event, and help raise money to allow the Napa Valley Grapegrowers to continue to do their great work for vineyards and farmworkers,” says Dario Sattui, owner of V. Sattui Winery.

Additional STOMP activities included an “Instant Cellar” raffle with a chance to win a shopping trip through the STOMP cellar, as well as a live auction featuring exclusive magnums made by all 10 past Napa Valley Growers of the Year, unique excursions, and opportunities to explore historic vineyards and make your own personal barrel of wine (25 cases) wine from the famous vineyards of Andy Beckstoffer.

Tickets for STOMP sell out within an hour of the announcement.  2016 tickets will be available in May 2016 through the Napa Valley Grapegrowers: www.napagrowers.org.
