New Tasting Room, Local Culinary, Wine and Food Programs with Historic Winery Tours and Full Service Patio Seating

Madrone Vineyard EstateGlen Ellen, Calif.— Glen Ellen’s oldest winery has returned to its original name, Madrone Vineyards Estate, to produce estate driven wines and offer new wine tasting experiences reviving 150 years of winemaking history at the former Valley of the Moon winery. A modern wine and culinary program and remodeled tasting room establish a fresh Sonoma wine country destination amidst century-old vines and an historic stone cellar.

The Stewart Family purchased the Valley of the Moon winery in 2012 to increase wine quality and build a micro-winery for Madrone Vineyards Estate wines. Valley of the Moon wines continue to be produced at the property and are now distributed exclusively in restaurants and retail stores nationally.

Winemaker David Marchesi added grape sorting, gentle presses and small tanks to create a small-lot winery in the historic stone barrel cellar. Using grapes from the 60-acre estate and small grower partners, he produces 100-375 case lots of old vine Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera, Rosé, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc available only at the winery.

Winery Chef Stephanie Gagne presents a new menu of wine and food pairings each week including small bites inspired by local restaurants, specialties from the patio’s wood-fired oven, artisan cheese pairings and educational sensory tastings.

“Inspired by the pioneers who have grown grapes here since 1863 and incredible local artisans, farmers and chefs, we’re bringing fine wine, culinary and service focused hospitality together in an incomparable setting,” said Estate President Tyler Galts.

Madrone Vineyards Estate is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. Estate Tours and tastings are available by reservation or walk-in. Wine tasting and pairing prices range from $15-$50. The Club 1863 Wine Club offers special member benefits and exclusive winery events. 777 Madrone Road, Glen Ellen, Calif. 707-949-4500 www.madronevineyardsestate.com
