Carneros wineries will be on hand pouring current and library wines for guests to enjoy. Stag Dining Group will create seasonal appetizer stations and Fine & Rare will feature a local charcuterie and cheeses to pair with the blind Carneros wine tasting table.

“When we founded the Carneros Wine Alliance 30 years ago we saw the potential for The Carneros AVA to be considered a leading appellation for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay,” reflected Anne Moller-Racke, CWA president and president and winegrower of The Donum Estate in Carneros. “Now, Carneros is known around the world as a producer of world-class wines and a wine capital in its own right. I’m so very proud and honored to have been part of this history and I’m looking forward to the next three decades of promoting our beautiful appellation and the wines that are created here.”

As part of the 30th anniversary celebration, the Carneros Wine Alliance conducted an internal vineyard survey to analyze the current composition of area vineyards relative to the past, and help the Alliance in its efforts to protect and promote the distinction, diversity and quality of Carneros-grown wines. The survey reported that Chardonnay and Pinot Noir together represent approximately 90% of planted vineyard acres in the Carneros appellation, with the remaining 10% growing varietals ranging from Syrah and Merlot to the more unusual Marsanne, Roussane, Albariño, Petit Verdot, Pinot Meunier, Vermentino, Grenache Blanc, and Tempranillo. The entire survey will be released this summer on the Carneros Wine Alliance website: carneros.com

T.J. Evans, CWA’s Treasurer and still winemaker for Domaine Carneros, led CWA efforts on the vineyard survey and expressed his appreciation to all the grape growers who contributed information. “Sharing information on the focus and the range of wine grapes produced in Carneros helps everyone understand our remarkable region and its capabilities as a premiere wine-producing appellation. We’ve come a long way in 30 years, and we’re going to keep working together to support even better Carneros wines in the future.”

Tickets to the 30th Birthday Bash are limited and available from Sosh for $100 per person. A portion of the proceeds will benefit di Rosa, a non-profit contemporary art museum celebrating the artists of Northern California.
