Ancient Peaks LabelSanta Margarita, CA—Ancient Peaks Winery today unveiled a bold new label design that showcases the distinctive sense of place behind the winery’s estate Margarita Vineyard. The new label will launch this month with the release of the 2014 Sauvignon Blanc.

“We wanted the label give you the sense of actually being here,” said Doug Filipponi, co-owner of Ancient Peaks Winery. “This new design goes to the heart of what’s in the bottle.”

Margarita Vineyard stands alone as the southernmost vineyard in the Paso Robles region, and as the only vineyard within the new Santa Margarita Ranch AVA. The vineyard resides in one of the region’s coolest growing environments just 14 miles from the Pacific Ocean, and spans a rare array of five soil types.

Accordingly, the new label depicts the grandeur of the surrounding Santa Lucia mountain peaks that act as a gateway for cool marine air. It also depicts the varied soil strata that distinguish the land. These features are embossed with pearl coating against a white backdrop.

Meanwhile, the back of the wrap-around label features a visual soil key, demonstrating the specific soil types on which a given wine was grown. A striking new Ancient Peaks wordmark completes the package. The new label was designed by Sarah Berger of the San Luis Obispo-based firm Makers & Allies.

“The new label not only tells our story, it also jumps off the shelf,” said Amanda Wittstrom-Higgins, the winery’s VP of operations. “The early feedback from both consumers and distributors has been very positive.”

We are a family-owned winery specializing in wines from our sustainably farmed estate Margarita Vineyard in Paso Robles on California’s Central Coast. Margarita Vineyard stands alone as the southernmost vineyard in the Paso Robles AVA, nestled into the rugged Santa Lucia Mountain Range just 14 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The name Ancient Peaks honors the tall peaks surrounding Margarita Vineyard, which were forged by the collision of the coastal plates. Over time, these same geologic forces blessed us with five distinct soil zones—ancient sea bed, rocky alluvium, shale, volcanic and granitic—that bring natural complexity to our wines. Our tasting room is located in Santa Margarita. Visit www.AncientPeaks.com for more information.
