tri-valleyLivermore, CA — April 16, 2015:  Tri-Valley Conservancy (TVC) was proud to announce the winners of the 6th annual Livermore Valley Uncorked Wine Competition, held Wednesday, April 8, to the public during a lively awards ceremony on Thursday, April 9 at Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery.

As part of its mission to support a viable agricultural economy in the Tri-Valley area, TVC established the Livermore Valley Uncorked wine competition in 2010. This annual competition is open only to wines made from fruit grown within the Livermore Valley American Viticultural Area (AVA).

Best of Show went to the 2013 “The Whip,” a white blend from Murrieta’s Well. The wine was first awarded Best of Class Other White, then received Best White, before going on to take the competition’s top honors.

Best Red for 2015 went to the 2010 Petite Sirah from Pat Paulsen Vineyards, which also took Best of Class for Petite Sirah.

Best Dessert went to the 2009 “DePorted” Port Style wine from BoaVentura de Caires.

Organized by the Tri-Valley Conservancy, this year’s competition consisted of more than 90 entries, the most yet, which were initially vetted by 2014’s “Best of” winning winemakers during a preliminary blind tasting.

These entries were then judged by nearly two-dozen wine journalists, sommeliers, wine buyers and restaurateurs, with awards given in the following categories:
