The Consorzio elects a president and vice presidents and continues with strategies and actions that are focused on foreign markets.

Andrea SartoriOn Wednesday 25th March during the final day of the Vinitaly 2015 exhibition, the new president of Italia del Vino – Consorzio was elected. At the helm of this group of wineries will be Andrea Sartori, born 1959, president of Casa Vinicola Sartori and fourth generation of a historic family of wine producers in the Verona area. The new election marked a sign of change for the consortium that, since 2009, unites twelve of the most important companies in the Italian wine industry, present on all markets around the globe (with a total turnover in 2014 of over 8000m euro). Andrea Sartori will be assisted by Roberta Corrà of Gruppo Italiano Vini and Alberto Medici of Medici Ermete & Figli in the roles of Vice-President.

“I am proud, said President Andrea Sartori, “of this role at the helm of this group which is an ambassador of Italian wine around the world. My aim is to develop this project further, putting together new initiatives linked to the Expo 2015 but also continuing with the work of my predecessor Ettore Nicoletto whom I thank on behalf of all the members for his dedication and work carried out in these past years for Italia del Vino – Consorzio”.

The president’s mission over the next three years will be to reinforce the united image of the group, continuing the close collaboration between all the wineries. President of Casa Vinicola Sartori since 2001, Andrea Sartori has has many years of experience in the wine sector and has held the role of President for Unione Italiana Vini, Simei and Agivi.

Consorzio Italia del Vino, guided by its new president, is preparing for a 2015 rich in international appointments such as Vinexpo in Bordeaux and the Expo in Milan.

“Our project is aimed at conquering export markets”, said Satori,”and to do this we believe that the Italian wine sector should cease to be so individualistic. In Bordeaux we will be present as a collective as we believe that this is a means and way of working which is beneficial to help develop Italian wines around the world and to enhance its value both in terms of quality and style”.

Italia del Vino – Consorzio is an example of how competition can become strategic collaboration and includes Banfi S.r.l., Cantina Lunae S.a., Cantine Ferrari Fratelli Lunelli S.p.A., Casa Vinicola Sartori S.p.A., Casa Vinicola Zonin S.p.A., Gruppo Italiano Vini, Librandi Antonio e Nicodemo Spa, Marchesi di Barolo, Medici Ermete & Figli S.r.l., Santa Margherita S.p.A., Società Agricola Drei Donà and Terredora S.a. “Our project is one which is concrete”, continued the President, “you only need to think that the members of Italia del Vino – Consorzio employ over 2000 people in technical and commercial roles, and have a turnover which exceeded 800m euro in 2014 with exports accounting for 440m which is equal to around 50% of the turnover and 8.5% of the whole exports of Italian wine. These numbers are our starting point and we will work to grow these in the future”.
