TerracesNapa Valley, February 2015 – The Terraces has launched a new website. The new site is a lean and elegant representation of The Terraces, which is a historic estate in Rutherford owned and run by the Crull family. The site was designed by Jon Krauss of Vin in Portland, Oregon.

On the website proprietor and winemaker Timm Crull explains, “We are crazy passionate about grapes, dirt, native plants, bees, apples, cooking and of course, crafting delicious wine. 2015 celebrates our 130 years of continuous grape growing and 30 years of winemaking. We are a family operation, no big corporate influence here. We strive to create epic wines which capture a sense of place and time, and that bring joy.”

“We wanted to express the experience of The Terraces with rich photo and informal narrative, as if you were visiting the winery listening to Timm Crull and his team on a tour,” explains website designer Jon Krauss.

The Terraces is located at 1450 Silverado Trail South in St. Helena and welcomes guests seven days a week by appointment via 707/963-1707 or tours@terraceswine.com. The winery produces approximately 3,500 cases a year. Current releases are 2013 Chenin Blanc, 2013 Chardonnay, 2013 Riesling, 2012 Zinfandel, 2010 Spotted Cow Late Harvest Red Blend, 2010 Cabernet Franc, 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2011 Petite Sirah and 2011 Rhyolite. The wines are primarily sourced from the estate vineyards. The winery offers several clubs with alluring options including vineyard lunches Timm Crull prepares throughout the year.

The property was established in the 1880s as a California ranch and vineyard. Today The Terraces encompasses over 113 acres of land in the Rutherford appellation: only 22% is planted to grapes. The vineyards sit at elevations between 150 and 400 feet, on slopes which range from 5% to 30% in the northeastern foothills of Rutherford. “Grapes have been grown at Quarry Vineyards for over 120 years. We believe it is our responsibility to build on this legacy, making it an even better and more magical place. As stewards of the land, our mission is to improve the habitat for native species each year, while reducing the impact of growing premium wine grapes. Awarded the Fish Friendly Farming certificate, we farm sustainably and work diligently to improve our environment each year,” Crull explains.

The property not planted to grapes is covered with fruit orchards, vegetable gardens, native gardens and native Californian oak woodland. The orchards include persimmons, figs, 8 types of pears, 10 types of peaches and 20 types of historic heirloom cider-type apples.

The team at The Terraces includes Sharon Crull, Ryan Calder, Monica Jones and Jaime Galindo.

Jon Krauss has over 15 years of experience in art direction, identity branding, graphic design, and web development.
