SCOTTSDALE, Arizona (February 3, 2015) – For twenty-four years, the Taste of the NFL’s “Party with a Purpose” has been known as the premier food and wine extravaganza for Super Bowl celebrants in the host city.   Featuring chefs from each of the NFL’s 32 team cities, the party attracts a large mix of celebrity chefs, actors, NFL Hall of Fame members and a host of current and former NFL players who gather to raise money to benefit food banks in each of the league’s cities.

One of the highlights of this year’s event was the Taste of the NFL’s salute to third-generation winemaker, Gina Gallo, for her long-time support of hunger-related charities, and the Gallo Winery’s contributions to combating hunger in the United States. Wayne Kostroski, founder of the Taste of the NFL, presented Gina with a unique plaque signed by all of the participating chefs, to recognize Gina’s leadership and involvement in this worthwhile effort.

“Cheers to twenty years of support from Gina, her wonderful family and this exemplary winery. I thank them on behalf of the thousands of families to which they’ve provided food and hope,” said Kostroski.  He added, “The Gallo family has always focused on family needs, even before joining forces with us. Fewer companies these days remain truly committed to their core beliefs and cultures. Gallo has, and does.”

For the past twenty years, the E. & J. Gallo Winery has partnered with the Taste of the NFL as the event’s exclusive wine sponsor. In the months leading up to the star-studded event, Gallo’s wine-by-the-glass program, now in its eleventh year, donates proceeds from the sale of select Gallo wines to hunger-related charities. This past year, restaurant patrons across the country who enjoyed a glass of wine from Gallo Signature Series, William Hill Estate, Louis M. Martini Winery and MacMurray Estate Vineyards during September, October and November helped contribute much-needed funds to support America’s hungry and homeless.

“I am so touched by this recognition of the deep commitment by our family and our winery to combat hunger, and we are proud to be a part of the Taste of the NFL team,” said Gina Gallo.  She added, “Most of all, I want to thank the more than 20,000 restaurants around the country who partnered with Gallo this year to make the wine-by-the glass program so successful.”

To date, the Taste of the NFL has raised more than $22 million dollars which has provided more than 175 million meals for the hungry.
