(January 21, 2015,Oakville, CA) Christopher Nickolopoulos and Elijah Pfister, co-owners of Nine North Wine Company, have appointed Molly Lyman as Head Winemaker.

“As our portfolio continues to expand and we broaden our focus beyond Napa, we needed a winemaker with a sense of adventure along with sensitivity to the subtle nuances of discrete appellations,” explains Nickolopoulos. “Molly’s background as well as her accomplishments and enthusiasm are an ideal match for the opportunity at hand.”

Sonoma-raised Lyman has been in the wine industry her whole life. “I’ve always had a passion for the craft and journey of winemaking’, comments Lyman. “Since graduating from the University of San Diego with a BS in biology, I have had the pleasure of being mentored by some truly wonderful innovators and artists: Heidi Barrett, Philipe Melka, Mike Hirby, and Julien Fayard. The chance to make my own imprint, with a talented team is exactly the challenge I embrace.”

Molly’s experience includes being Associate Winemaker at Moone-Tsai Vineyards through 2011 and 2012, and Assistant Winemaker at Paradigm Winery from 2007 through 2010. She has also worked with Duckhorn Vineyards, Relic Wine Cellars, and Talisman Wines, and gained international experience at Whitehaven Vineyards in New Zealand.

“I am thrilled to join Chris and Elijah in their mission to grow Nine North. Their energy and zeal for the industry is catching, and they’ve created a team that feels wonderful to work with,” adds Lyman who is also the winemaker at Volker Eisele Family Estate.

Chris adds, ”We’re very excited to have Molly aboard as her classic and integrated style of winemaking mirrors the profile we want to see in our wines.”

In addition to her responsibilities at Nine North, Molly will also direct the winemaking programs at The Ministry of the Vinterior and The Dirty Pure Project, Nickolopoulos and Pfister’s additional ventures.
