Bottlenotes to partner with former Wine Spectator editor and author of The Essential Bar Book, Jennifer Fiedler, to create The Proof, a digital lifestyle newsletter focused on cocktail culture

The ProofPalo Alto, CA (October 1st 2014): On October 8th, 2014, Bottlenotes, Inc., the leading interactive media company in the U.S. wine and craft beer industries, will unveil The Proof, a weekly e-newsletter about spirits. From how to make a Paloma to which bars to visit in San Diego, which straws to entertain with to the best new craft gins, The Proof will be the definitive guide about cocktail culture for women.

Bottlenotes has brought on Jennifer Fiedler as Editorial Director of The Proof. Fiedler is the author of The Essential Bar Book: An A-to-Z Guide to Spirits, Cocktails, and Wine, with 115 Recipes for the World’s Great Drinks (Ten Speed Press, Oct. 2014), and a former editor at Wine Spectator magazine. A graduate of Yale University and the French Culinary Institute, she has worked in the fields on an organic farm in Virginia, in New York City kitchens as a personal chef and caterer, and behind the desk as a researcher and writer for books and magazines. She currently lives on the North Shore of Oahu.

In addition to the weekly e-newsletter, The Proof will also provide a forum to discuss and share cocktails and cocktail culture across Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram, offering DIY recipe tips, advice on entertaining with spirits, enticing images of many mixed drinks, and more.

“With the current trends of increased consumption of and experimentation with spirits amongst women in particular we believe this is the perfect time to launch a new publication that will address many elements of cocktail culture with an audience of women in mind. We¹re also excited to highlight many of the up-and-coming artisanal spirit brands that are pushing the envelope on flavor and quality,” said Alyssa Rapp, Founder & CEO of Bottlenotes, Inc.

“We’re in the middle of an era of small, artisanal brands, and I don’t think anyone in the beverage industry believes this will end anytime soon,” said William Anderson, Bottlenotes Director and Founder & CEO of First Beverage Group. “The spirits industry in particular is accelerating quickly with new flavors and innovations, from big and new suppliers alike. The need for a new publication on artisanal craft spirits from the workings of mixologists to the stories behind emerging distillers has never been greater.”

The Proof was designed by Savannah, Georgia-based firm, Revolver Studios, and will launch on October 8th. For a sneak preview, please email spencer.anderson@bottlenotes.com.
