Annual benefit for San Francisco Baykeeper features Bay Area New & Notable restaurants and Artisan Purveyors

Logo Wine Spirits Top 100San Francisco, CA, September 22, 2014 — Wine & Spirits Magazine today announced the Top 100 Wineries of the Year: a collection of producers from around the world with the most exceptional track records in the magazine’s blind tastings this year. The Top 100 Wineries will pour their highest-rated wines at 11th Annual Top 100 Tasting Event on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at City View at METREON in San Francisco, a benefit for San Francisco Baykeeper.

“Our blind tasting panels assessed more than 14,500 new wine releases this year—a record number—making the selection of our Top 100 Wineries that much more competitive,” says Wine & Spirits editor and publisher Joshua Greene. “These are the top performers from around the world and they’ll all be pouring their highest rated wines at our Top 100 Event. It’s a chance to talk with some of the most talented winemakers working today and taste their wines. It’s also a chance to pair those wines with food from our Bay Area New & Notable Restaurants.”

Top 100-event attendees feast on delicious bites from Wine & Spirits’ New & Notable Bay Area Restaurants including 1760 Restaurant, Dirty Habit, Healdsburg SHED, Loló, Stones Throw, TORC, and The Barrel Room. The evening will also include fresh oysters from Hog Island and an array of artisan specialties from Adesso, Baia Pasta, Olive This Olive That, Point Reyes Cheese, Scala’s Bistro, Song Tea, Sour Flour and XOX Truffles.

The Top 100 Tasting Event attracts high-level wine enthusiasts and industry professionals who are interested in wines from up-and-coming regions and renowned winemakers. In keeping with Wine & Spirits Magazine’s mission to raise awareness of water conservation issues, proceeds from the event will benefit San Francisco Baykeeper.

About Wine & Spirits Magazine

Founded in 1982, Wine & Spirits Magazine is published eight times a year and read by over 200,000 members of America’s wine community. Consumers and wine professionals read the magazine for information on established and up-and-coming regions and producers, the art and science of viticulture, restaurant and industry happenings, and food and wine pairing. Leading the wine magazine category, Wine & Spirits has earned the most James Beard awards for excellence in wine writing.

About SF Baykeeper

Since 1989, Baykeeper has been the pollution watchdog for San Francisco Bay, an advocate for clean water, which is critical to the Bay Area as well as to the wine industry. The Top 100 Tasting Event raises money and awareness for SF Baykeeper, helping to protect water resources and support initiatives to fight water pollution. Wine is 80 percent water, so in a sense, concern for water purity and conservation is just self-preservation for wine drinkers. Visit baykeeper.org for more information.
