ReustleReustle-Prayer Rock Vineyards Owner/Winemaker Stephen M. Reustle continues to display his wine-making abilities with another DOUBLE GOLD Medal for his Syrah Program. Oregon Wine Competition, held in historic Jacksonville, Oregon, awarded Reustle-Prayer Rock Vineyards 2014 Syrah Reserve a DOUBLE GOLD Medal at its August 24, 2016, Medal Celebration. This medal marks the 22nd time since Reustle began entering wine competitions in 2009 that his  Syrah program  has received a DOUBLE GOLD or higher medal in competition (regional, national, or international competitions).

Stephen M. Reustle, a wine judge himself, noted, “To win a GOLD Medal means a panel of judges agree the wine is exceptional. To win a DOUBLE GOLD Medal means the panel of judges ALL voted for a GOLD Medal … quite a feat.”

Wine competition chairman Bruce Nicholson explained this years statewide competition was limited to 300 wines and each winery was limited to 4 entries. Nicholson continued that this limit effectively raised the overall quality of the competition.

This years wine judges included three Master of Wine who remarked about the quality of the wines and the competition.  Adam Lapierre, MW stated, “The bar was quite high…compared to other competition it was significantly higher.” Mollie Battenhouse MW, who judged this competition as well echoed, “The quality (of wine) is very high.”   Tim Hanni, MW added,The wines are world-class. They are really, really good and will continue to get better.”

Reustle-Prayer Rock Vineyards also earned SILVER Medals for its 2014 Tempranillo Reserve and 2014 Pinot Noir Reserve. Regarding winning a medal, Mr. Lapierre commented, “To get a medal at this competition means the wines have to stand out and be exceptional.”

Reustle-Prayer Rock Vineyards continues to showcase wine-making consistency across the spectrum of wine, but nowhere more noticeable than their Syrah program, winning their 22nd DOUBLE GOLD or higher medal at the 2016 Oregon Wine competition.
